Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid will wear new sneakers on the court for the upcoming 2023-24 NBA season.

The reigning NBA Most Valuable Player is on the verge of finalizing an endorsement deal with American shoe company Skechers, solidifying their entry into the basketball market.

Skechers, known primarily for their lifestyle and running footwear, has recently signed star athletes like Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane.

As of now, a formal agreement has not been finalized. However, during the Sixers' practice on Wednesday, October 19, Embiid wore a Skechers shoe for the first time, with the brand's performance team present to oversee the testing of the sneaker,  The Athletic.

Skechers is gearing up to launch its new basketball division by bringing in a group of NBA players,  New York Knicks power forward Julius Randle and Los Angeles Clippers guard Terrence Mann, aside from Embiid.

Regrettably, the sneaker did not have a follow-up, making it Embiid's first and last shoe release with Under Armour.

Adidas sponsored Embiid before the Under Armour deal.
